Laetitia Ky is an Ivorian artist, photographer, activist, and author who uses sculpted hair as both visual language and a means of public argument. Love and Justice combines personal essay with 135 photographs documenting works that address Black beauty, social equality, bodily confidence, and women’s self-expression. Princeton Architectural Press published the English-language hardcover in 2022, while French edition records identify a 224-page translation released by EPA in 2023. Ky builds her sculptures with extensions, wool, wire, and thread, turning hair into figures, symbols, and scenes that can communicate an idea at a glance. The book places those images beside her account of growing up in Abidjan and developing an artistic practice connected to activism. Love and Justice is therefore neither a conventional memoir nor simply a portfolio. Its photographs and prose explain one another, showing how technique, lived experience, and civic purpose became intertwined. Readers encounter an artist describing both the craft behind her images and the convictions that determine what those images are asked to say.
