Author: Lawrence Wright

Lawrence Wright works across journalism, books, screenwriting and theater. He joined The New Yorker staff in 1992 after earlier posts at The Race Relations Reporter and Texas Monthly, and his reporting has received three National Magazine Awards. His two-part investigation Remembering Satan also earned the John Bartlow Martin Award for Public Interest Magazine Journalism. The Looming Tower won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction and later became a Hulu miniseries. Wright approached The End of October, published by Knopf in 2020, through interviews with epidemiologists, microbiologists, vaccine specialists, security experts and public-health officials. The novel follows physician Henry Parsons as he investigates a new virus spreading internationally. Wright has also written the nonfiction books Going Clear and God Save Texas, stage monologues, screenplays and documentary projects. He worked with director Alex Gibney on the screen version of Going Clear, which received three Emmy awards.
