About this book
Prologue to an Analogue is credited to Leigh Richmond. Bill Howard gives a newscast in which he talks in horrified tones of a "pest-sub" that had reputedly got stuck in the Suez and spread epidemic across Cairo. A commercial shows witches singing "No task is too big, no task is too small" as they dance, each displaying a product from the Witch line such as detergent, soap, shampoo, cleanser or cleaning fluid.
A character named Oswald says, "We're being witch-hunted," and says he will get the whole firm to work on it. In Washington, the CIA Chief says to "Mr. President" that it is more than just a pest plane that crashed in Formosa and that "It carried bacterial bombs, and they exploded." The President and his cabinet put the country on a double alert, with the thought that Russia "would hit the United States with disease and ultimatums next."
