Levison Wood documents long journeys as a British explorer, writer, photographer, and former Parachute Regiment officer. His expeditions have included walking the length of the Nile, crossing the Himalayas, and travelling around the Arabian Peninsula, each accompanied by books or television work. With Geraint Jones, Wood coauthored Escape from Kabul, published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2023. Drawing on first-hand accounts, the book reconstructs the 2021 Kabul airlift and Operation Pitting through testimony from politicians, officers, service personnel, and Afghans involved in the evacuation. The collaboration brings Wood’s travel and military background together with Jones’s experience as a former soldier and writer while keeping the people who witnessed the operation central to the narrative.
