Lisa Blackwood

Lisa Blackwood, based in Canada, writes fantasy series featuring magical guardians, sorcerers, gargoyles, and varied supernatural communities. Stone’s Kiss opens the Avatars trilogy, followed by Stone's Song and Stone's Divide. The first novel centers on Lillian, who has treated a stone gargoyle named Gregory as a source of comfort since childhood. When Gregory awakens to protect her, she learns that her remembered life conceals an older identity and a connection to powerful magic. The story combines an urban-fantasy conflict with the developing bond between Lillian and the guardian who knows more about their shared past than she does. Blackwood later wrote the Gargoyle and Sorceress books and collaborated with S. M. Schmitz on space-opera romance. Other books include Guardians of the Stone, Soul Mage, and the Burning Bright sequence. Stone’s Kiss, first published in 2012, establishes the mythology of the Avatars series through memory, duty, recurring lives, and protective vows, while making trust between Lillian and Gregory central to the trilogy's larger struggle and its examination of chosen loyalty.
