Louis Borgenicht is a board-certified pediatrician who practised for decades in Salt Lake City, taught pediatrics as an assistant professor at Utah's School of Medicine, and has served on the board of Physicians for Social Responsibility. The Baby Owner's Manual is his book with his son Joe Borgenicht, who has no medical training, and that gap is the joke: a first-year infant care guide laid out like an appliance manual, with chapters on installation, feeding, sleep programming and troubleshooting. Quirk Books published it in 2003 with drawings by Paul Kepple and Jude Buffum, and brought out a revised edition in 2012.
