Tracey Murkett became known as a British writer and journalist who translates Gill Rapley’s work on infant feeding into practical books for families. Murkett first encountered the baby-led approach while raising her daughter and later formed a long-running writing partnership with Rapley, a health visitor and researcher who developed the modern framework. Their original UK book, Baby-led Weaning: Helping Your Baby to Love Good Food, appeared through Vermilion in 2008. American editions use a longer explanatory subtitle, and Baby-led weaning the essential gu is an incomplete form of that edition wording, not an additional book. The Experiment issued a tenth-anniversary version in 2019, while Penguin continues to list both writers and Murkett’s role as a freelance author. The collaborators also produced cookbooks and books on breastfeeding and parenting. Murkett contributes lived practice and clear explanatory writing as coauthor, paired with Rapley’s professional and research background.
