Author: Louis Dodge
Louis Dodge (1870-1952) was an American novelist and newspaperman, born in Burlington, Iowa. He began as a reporter on the Eagle Pass Guide in Texas in 1893, covered the Spanish-American War, and worked for years as a literary editor and critic in St. Louis before turning to fiction. His first novel, Bonnie May (1916), was filmed as a silent comedy-drama in 1920, and he published steadily into the early 1920s, ranging from adult novels of character and reputation such as Children of the Desert to the Sandman's Forest books for children. He spent his last years in southern California and died in Los Angeles in 1952.
