Mark Kenyon works across outdoor writing, podcasting, hunting, angling, and conservation advocacy, with a focus on public land and wildlife. That Wild Country combines travel writing with an accessible history of America’s public-land system. Its full subtitle, An Epic Journey into the Past, Present, and Future of America’s Public Lands, describes the book’s movement between landscapes, policy disputes, and Kenyon’s own journeys. Little A released it in 2019. The places discussed include Yellowstone, Pictured Rocks, and Arches, but the narrative also asks how recreation, resource development, habitat protection, and federal stewardship can coexist.
