Pindar

Pindar (about 518 to 438 BCE) was the greatest of the ancient Greek choral lyric poets, born near Thebes. His victory odes, celebrating winners of the Panhellenic games, are the fullest surviving example of the form and were prized in antiquity for their grandeur and moral weight.
