Sara Faring
Sara Faring uses cinematic structure, family secrets, and puzzles in teen fiction. Born in Los Angeles, she studied international studies and business at the University of Pennsylvania and Wharton, then worked in investment banking and publishing. Macmillan’s Imprint released White Fox during 2020, making it her second novel. Sisters Manon and Thaïs return to their Mediterranean island home, where their celebrated actress mother disappeared years earlier. A mysterious screenplay titled White Fox may contain clues, so the sisters read its fairy-tale narrative while confronting conflicting memories of their family. Faring uses screenplay fragments, interviews, documents, and shifting perspectives to blur the line between a missing film and the search around it. Locus classified the title among teen thrillers and mysteries with eerie story-within-a-story elements. That experimentation continues Faring’s interest in unreliable narratives, already visible in her debut, The Tenth Girl, while giving the sisters distinct ways of interpreting art, absence, and one another.
