Author: Scott Nearing
Scott Nearing (1883–1983) was an American economist, educator, and political radical whose outspoken views repeatedly put him at odds with authority. He was dismissed from the University of Pennsylvania in 1915 after his campaign against child labor, and was later prosecuted under the Espionage Act for an anti-war pamphlet. In his later decades he and his wife Helen became well-known advocates of simple, self-sufficient country living, an experience they recorded in "Living the Good Life."
