Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies is a self-help memoir written by somebody who was a television executive at Comedy Central by thirty and, by her own account, drinking heavily and badly unwell underneath it. Schuster sets out small deliberate rituals she used to rebuild, and is explicit that therapy did most of the work. The follow-up covers the same ground for people earlier in their careers. She is candid about a difficult family in a way that a jokier cover does not prepare readers for.
