The Holy Quran
This is not an author. The Quran is the scripture of Islam, which Muslims hold to be the word of God revealed to the Prophet Muhammad in Arabic across roughly twenty-three years and recorded during and shortly after his lifetime. It is arranged in a hundred and fourteen surahs, ordered by length rather than by date of revelation. The items on this page are English renderings of individual surahs, among them Ya-Sin, Ar-Rahman, Al-Kahf, Al-Mulk and Al-Waqiah, which are the ones most often recited on their own. Muslims generally treat a translation as an interpretation rather than as the Quran itself, since the Arabic text is the scripture.
