Vivian Arend
Vivian Arend builds linked romances around Canadian landscapes, rescue teams, western communities, and paranormal worlds. High Risk originally opened the Adrenaline Search and Rescue sequence and was later presented as High Risk: Pursuit. The story introduces an elite Banff-based rescue organization called Lifeline, placing professional responsibility and personal history inside the physical demands of mountain work. High Passion and High Seduction continued the original sequence, while later renamed editions organize the books as Pursuit, Rescue, and Gambit. Arend's other series include Granite Lake Wolves, Takhini Wolves, Six Pack Ranch, and Heart Falls. Those groups show her preference for connected casts whose friendships and family ties carry across individual romances. High Risk is consequently both a complete suspense narrative and the foundation for a larger team-centered arc. Its Canadian setting also links the novel with the regional identity that appears throughout much of Arend's work.
