Walter Savage Landor
Walter Savage Landor (1775-1864) was an English poet and prose writer known for a fierce temperament and an unusually long career that spanned the Romantic and Victorian ages. He is remembered chiefly for the Imaginary Conversations, his multi-volume sequence of invented dialogues among historical figures, and for lyric poems such as "Rose Aylmer" and the epic "Gebir." He spent much of his life in Italy, and Dickens affectionately caricatured him as Boythorn in Bleak House.
