Three Margarets
by Laura Elizabeth Howe Richards

Andie Newton’s moving historical fiction about World War II is titled “A Child for the Reich.” The protagonist of the tale is Anna Dankova, a mother who is committed to keeping her daughter Ema safe from the German forces. Anna goes undercover as a loving German subject after Ema, a blonde-haired and blue-eyed infant, is abducted by the Brown Sisters, nurses committed to the German leader’s cause. Convincing Ema that the Germans have misled her about her true origins will be her problem as she sets out on a quest to locate and rescue her daughter.
