About this book
A Flower Book has its story by Eden Coybee and its pictures by Nellie Benson. An author's note says the little book is not entirely a fairy-tale and thanks the Reverend Hilderic Friend. The narrator knows of a wood where the little elves and sprites and the delicate fairies dance in a ring in the moonlight, and promises to tell what happens there at twelve o'clock on the first night of every year.
Rusialka tells the Yellow Jasmine that she is slight and slender, and winsome and means separation, and tells the Michaelmas Daisy that she softens the bitter parting with a fond farewell. The Lady Elder comes out of her tree and smiles upon the flowers, saying good night and farewell until the Spring, and the White Ladies climb on their moonbeam and glide softly up into Fairyland.
