A Gambling Man

A Gambling Man is the second Aloysius Archer novel by David Baldacci. 1949 California, post war noir territory. Archer arrives in a coastal town to work for an aging private detective and immediately gets pulled into a case involving a senator’s murdered son. Baldacci writes period pieces well and this is one of his more enjoyable.
