A Short History of the Great War, by A. F. Pollard, comes with nineteen maps. A note says the manuscript, except the last chapter, was finished on 21 May 1919, and the revision of the last chapter was completed in October. Among others, the contents list names The Breach of the Peace, The German Invasion, Russia Moves and Establishing the Western Front.
The text says the British Navy was as ready as the German Army, and that the command of the sea passed automatically to the writer’s side when the German Fleet withdrew from the North Sea on 26 July. The text says the fort made a marvellous resistance under Major Raynal and held out till the 6th. The text says that early on the 11th Canadians captured Mons.
