About this book

Why We Are at War: Great Britain's case is written by members of the Oxford Faculty of Modern History. The preface says the authors are not politicians, and belong to different schools of political thought. The preface says the authors have written the book to set forth the causes of the present war, and the principles which they believe to be at stake. The preface says the fifth chapter, which to many readers will be the most interesting, is founded upon first-hand evidence, the documents contained in the British White Book.

The full title lists an Appendix of Original Documents including the Authorized English Translation of the White Book issued by the German Government. One section says that the allies in the year 1813 handed over to Holland the Austrian Netherlands and the bishopric of Liège. A statement in the book says that in this manner for the third time in the course of the last 6 years Servia has led Europe to the brink of a world-war.
