A Story Garden for Little Children is by Maud Lindsay, illustrated by Florence Liley Young. The list of stories includes, among others, Little Sleepy Head, The Lovely Moon, The Wind's Fun, The Brown Birds and The Stick Horse. In the story headed Little Sleepy Head, a little child lies asleep in his pretty white bed, and the clock on the mantel ticks "Wake up, wake up."
A bird that lived in a tree close by the window says it will wake him with a song, as he throws it crumbs to eat every day. A little boy makes such a big snowball that he thinks he must take it into the house to show to his mother. A little boy is out of the window with the snowman and asks where they are going, and the snowman says they had better go to the Winter King's palace and ask him if he cannot do something to keep the sun from shining to-morrow.
