About this book
The full title of A Voyage to the Moon, by George Tucker, offers some account of the manners and customs, science and philosophy, of the people of Morosofia, and other Lunarians. The contents list for the first chapter includes the entries He makes a voyage, Founders off the Burman coast and Meets with a learned Brahmin from Benares. The contents list for the second chapter includes the entries Curious information concerning the Moon and They plan a voyage to the Moon.
A narrator says that death deprived him of an excellent wife and made a wreck of his hopes and enjoyments, and that he determined to make a sea voyage. An elderly man who seemed very quiet in the midst of all this ferment says the ground of the dispute is that one of the candidates is tall and the other short, one with a large foretop and the other bald. The text says a whole living pyramid came to the ground together, that many were killed and some wounded, and that Polenap barely escaped with life but received a fracture in the upper part of his head and a dislocation of the hip.
