About this book
A Winter Tour in South Africa is credited to Frederick Young. A dedication says "This Volume, describing a recent tour, during which a large portion of Her Majesty's magnificent Dominions in South Africa were traversed, is, by gracious permission, dedicated". A passage on a voyage lists "A rough voyage across the Bay of Biscay, a view of the Tagus, a brief run on shore to look at the picturesque capital of Portugal".
The text says "While I was at Port Elizabeth I paid a flying visit to Grahamstown." A railway account says "The railway runs through the veldt, where wild elephants are still strictly preserved." The text reports a speaker who "felt sure the time would come when Lord Salisbury would think that Imperial Federation was something more than a word of ten letters".
