About this book

A Woman's Will, by Anne Warner, is divided into parts called The Rise of the Storm, The Beating of the Waves and The Breaking of the Barriers. A character named Jack gives one last violent wave to his handkerchief as the crowd upon the deck of the departing Liner becomes a mere blur in the distance. Von Ibn is described as very tall, as befitted one half of his name, and very dark, as befitted the other.

Rosina, who chanced to be a connoisseur in chins, asks to be presented to Von Ibn, and the American says slowly that many people consider him an awful bore. A stranger sent reeling backwards against one of the stone pillars says My Lord, what a welcome, and Rosina, screaming afresh, exclaims that it is her cousin Jack. A man says that in America it is all liberty, and no time for love, and Jack answers carelessly that they make a lot of money all the same.
