Adele Doring of the Sunnyside Club is by Grace May North. Chapter Four, headed ADELE'S SECRET, carries a rhyme that asks who can guess the secret, with blue in it and green in it and bird-song lilting gay. A group of six are waiting for Adele under the elm-tree in the school-yard one Friday, after the Secret Sanctum had been furnished as the girls had planned.
Betty Burd says she does not know what they would have done if Bob Angel and Jack Doring had not carted those heavy things to the cabin. Bertha reminds the others that at their last business meeting they decided that their bank might be stolen and that they would change its hiding-place. Firefly comes on a gallop when Adele whistles, whinnying for the lump of sugar which his mistress always had for him. Adele asks Miss Peterson whether there is a class for writers, saying she may not have any talent but would so love to try.
