About this book

Marjorie's Busy Days is by Carolyn Wells, author of The Patty Books. The contents list chapters called A Jolly Good Game, An Exasperating Guest, Picnic Plans, The First Day of School, The Jinks Club, The Hallowe'en Party, Thanksgiving Day and The Charity Bazaar. Kingdon displays four oranges and calls them cocoanuts, and Marjorie, who will make search, calls the crackers bread fruit and the pears wild pears.

The merry games being over, all go to the dining-room for the feast, where the table holds jack-o'-lanterns made not only of pumpkins, but of squashes, turnips, and even of big red or green apples, and queer little gnomes and witches made of nuts or of dried prunes. Marjorie gasps with dismay when she hears the words If you can spell macaroons, for she had never had the word in her spelling lessons, and Mr. Abercrombie allows just a minute, no more.
