About this book
Adventures in Toyland; What the Marionette Told Molly is by Edith King Hall, with seventy illustrations. The contents list chapters called After the Shutters Were Up, The Rabbit and the Mouse, The Officer and the Elephant and The Last Performance.
A little girl asks, if toys can walk and talk, why children do not know it, and the answer given is that, although they have known many toys, they are very ignorant regarding their habits. A toy explains that the power of talking to a Mortal comes but once in the lifetime of every toy and generally lasts from a fortnight to three weeks. The little girl wipes her eyes and says she is very sorry for the poor Little Dancer and wishes that the Bicycle-man had not been so unkind.
