About this book
An Enemy of Peace by Robert Silverberg carries a blurb saying that when enemies of peace threaten the System, they must be eliminated, and that if all else fails, you can always go to war with them. Lloyd Riddell is described as having held Center City together almost single-handed while the white blaze of atomics laid waste the horizon. In answer to a question about when Northburg intends to attack, Len Colter says he does not know and that it all depends on what is going on in David Barr's mind.
One of two speakers is heard calling it a crazy war and asking what Barr wants to go conquer the world for, and the other tells him to be quiet. Riddell knocks a gun from Barr's fingers. Voices shout “Kill Barr!” and “We don't want to fight another war!”
