About this book
Ancient Egyptian Legends is by M. A. Murray. The preface says the legends of the Gods of ancient Egypt have been retold, legends which were current in the “morning of the world,” preserved to the present day engraved on stone and written on papyri. The preface says the legends are told in the writer’s own way, adhering strictly to the story, but arranging the words and phrases according to the English method.
A messenger of the prince of Bekhten brings word to Rameses, King of Egypt, that Bent-reshy, the little sister of the Great Royal Wife, Neferu-Ra, has a malady in all her limbs. The King bids the scribe Tehuti-em-heb go with the messenger of the prince of Bekhten to heal Bent-reshy. The text says that to this day men make ceremonies in remembrance of the Battles of Horus on the first day of the first month of the inundation.
