About this book

Minnie Brown can hardly contain her excitement when a letter announces that Aunt Amy will visit Rosedale. The arrival of her much loved aunt turns familiar village walks into lessons in noticing other people’s needs. Amy, a wealthy widow who devotes her resources to helping others, proposes calling on Mrs. Button and her daughter Kate, despite Minnie’s doubts about their reputation.

Daniel Wise’s children’s tale connects Christian teaching with small choices in everyday life. Letter writing, family prayer and a carriage outing give the story its domestic setting. At the seaside, Minnie gathers shells and plays beside the waves while her aunt encourages her enjoyment, then reminds her to make room for kindness as well. The direct conversations and openly guiding narrator offer a clear example of how moral stories taught young readers to connect good intentions with practical care.
