About this book
Bible Atlas is a manual of biblical geography and history prepared by Jesse L. Hurlbut for teachers and students of the Bible and for Sunday school instruction. The title page lists maps, plans, review charts, colored diagrams and views of the principal cities and localities known to Bible history, and it names an introduction by Bishop John H. Vincent. This is a revised edition.
One section sets out the history of Jerusalem in seven periods, beginning with the Patriarchal Period, B.C. 2000-1300, and the Jebusite Period. Other pages quote letters from a correspondent whose sea voyage left New York in 1859 on the schooner Star of Bethlehem and reached the harbor of Gibraltar. Lists of measures also appear, among them the Sabbath Day's Journey, the cab, the omer and the seah.
