About this book
Captain Desmond, V.C. is a book by Maud Diver. The title page marks a revised edition, in large part rewritten, and the author's note speaks of revising and partially rewriting the author's novel 'Captain Desmond, V.C.' The dedication names the author's son Cyril and Mrs Alan Batten.
Mrs Desmond says the regiment swamps every thing, and that the men are always in uniform and always at it. Honor says she is afraid that on the Frontier, if a man is keen, his wife is bound to stand second. Theo Desmond has spent whole hours at a stretch basking in the temperate December sunshine under feathery mimosa bushes, yet he wrote no line to the Regiment, which for thirteen years had stood second only to his God.
