Christianity and Problems of To-day collects lectures associated with John Huston Finley (1863-1940), the American educator who presided over Knox College and the College of the City of New York before editing the New York Times editorial page. The volume brings university voices to the social questions that pressed on early twentieth-century Protestantism, in the lecture-series format the age loved. Finley was famous besides as a prodigious walker who circled Manhattan on foot each year.
