About this book
Christian's Mistake is a work by Dinah Maria Mulock Craik. Mrs. Ferguson, wife of James Ferguson, the well-to-do silversmith and jeweler, reads aloud a notice naming the Reverend Arnold Grey, D.D., Master of Saint Bede's College, Avonsbridge, and Christian, only child of the late Edward Oakley.
Letitia and Arthur are described as thin, prim-looking, rather plain children, while Oliver is called the very picture of a father's darling. Arthur says he is a big boy and does not like to be kissed, and Letitia adds that the nurse told them not to kiss anybody but their aunts. Christian tells a listener every thing concerning herself and Edwin Uniacke, and hears the reply that, to tell the plain truth, all this was known before.
