About this book
The book presents Company B, 307th Infantry: its history, an honor roll and a company roster, compiled by Julius Klausner, Jr. in 1920. The section on Camp Upton says that on September 17, 1917, the 77th Division came to life. Company B, 307th Infantry was one of the first units to be organized within the division, formed also on September 17th.
Under the leadership of Captain Blanton Barrett, 1st Lieutenant Alexander D. B. Pratt, and 2d Lieutenants Philip Cheney and Everett A. Butterfield, the company, the text says, was gradually whipped into an efficient machine. The history says that on November 5th the combined strength of the entire Regiment was hurled against the 195th German Division, and Stonne fell. The capture of Stonne is said to have succeeded in liberating a French population that for four years had been under the dominance of an enemy army. A caption reads Captain Blanton Barrett Killed in Action, July 21st, 1918.
