About this book
A line under the title of Corsairs of the Cosmos describes a story of the Interstellar Patrol and a tale of an invasion from outside the universe. The narrator, Dur Nal, captain in the Patrol, says he and his two officers are often asked what was the greatest adventure they ever took part in during their service in the Interstellar Patrol. Dur Nal answers that he believes their space-fight with the serpent-people was the wildest adventure ever they had.
Korus Kan, the first officer, disagrees and names the time they were drawn into the dark nebula, while Jhul Din, the second officer, names the time they penetrated inside a comet. Lacq Larus, called the Chief, says he has had a report from the astronomers at Betelgeuse that a number of celestial bodies are approaching the galaxy from outer space. The narrator says the whole galaxy was aflame with news of the coming of these cosmic corsairs, who meant to plunder part of the suns.
