About this book
Daddy's Girl is by L. T. Meade and shows Philip Ogilvie and his pretty wife quarrelling "as their custom was, in the drawing-room of the great house in Belgrave Square". The "Angel in the nursery upstairs" "knew nothing at all about that", and "was eight years old."
A girl named Sibyl asks her father, "Is it 'cos I'm a wicked girl you're sad?" and he answers, "you are not wicked, my darling; you are the best, the sweetest in all the world." Mrs. Ogilvie says of an invitation to Grayleigh Manor, "I have given you my views on that subject, Philip; I am going," and "I shall take the child." Sibyl settles in an armchair "near Mr. Rochester" and says, "I want to understand about the gold mine." Rochester says, "If your father gives a good report of the mine there will be a great deal of money subscribed, as it is called, by different people."
