Driftwood Spars is a 1916 novel by Percival Christopher Wren (1875-1941), the English writer whose years in the Indian Education Service fed all his early fiction. The story turns on John Robin Ross-Ellison, a man of mixed Pathan and English blood, and moves between frontier intrigue and the loyalties of an Indian volunteer corps as war reaches the subcontinent. Readers who know only Beau Geste will find here the same fascination with divided identity and soldierly honour, worked out on Indian ground. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
