The volume Eminent Authors of the Nineteenth Century, with the subtitle Literary Portraits, is by Georg Brandes. The title page says the volume is translated from the original by Rasmus B. Anderson, United States Minister to Denmark. The text says that few poets, therefore, have portrayed such a series of characters without guile and without vulgarity as Heyse.
