About this book
The volume is translated from the Spanish, with an introductory essay by J. E. Crawford Flitch. The account of Unamuno's banishment records his notice to prepare to travel under escort to Fuerteventura within twenty-four hours.
The discussion of Quixotism describes a method encompassing knowledge, aesthetics, logic, ethics and religion, with a hope in the rationally absurd. Don Quixote is said to have fought for Dulcinea, for glory, for life and for survival. Maquetas feels the road with numb hands and creeps on all fours away from an abyss as the cold becomes horrible and he loses the feeling of the ground and his hands.
