About this book
Followers of the Trail is a book by Zoe Meyer, illustrated by William F. Stecher. The contents list chapters titled The Adventures of Kagh, the Porcupine, The Trail of the Moose and The White Wolf. The Hermit and Pal, a dog, take many a trip into the forest, the man upon snowshoes, the dog with his light weight easily upborne by the crust.
The bear, woodchuck, skunk, raccoon and chipmunk are described as fat from their summer feeding and retired to den or hollow tree to sleep snugly through the cold months. A chapter headed The Further Adventures of Ringtail, the Raccoon has a hush lying over the wilderness late one summer afternoon. A cub, little more than half grown, awakens one night to find his mother absent at her hunting, and the moonlight at the entrance to the cave calls him out.
