About this book

Franco-Gallia is described as an account of the ancient free state of France, and most other parts of Europe, before the loss of their liberties. The work is stated to be written originally in Latin in the year 1574 and translated into English by the Author of the Account of Denmark. A writer says that the Constitution is a Government of Laws, not of Persons.

The text says that allegiance and protection are obligations that cannot subsist separately, and that when one fails, the other falls of course. The text cites Eguinarthus, in his Life of Charlemagn, as writing that after King Pipin's death the Franks, having assembled themselves in a solemn general Convention, appointed both his sons to be their Kings, on condition that they should equally divide the whole body of the Kingdom between them.
