About this book
Goya, an Account of His Life and Works contains an account of the painter's retirement to the seclusion of a house outside the gates of the capital. The account describes Goya opening his doors only to a few old friends, including Cean Bermudez the art critic, Carnicero the illustrator of Don Quixote, Castillo the painter and Selma the engraver. The account describes the old painter as completely deaf and refers to dark days of change and violence.
The list includes entries identified as the artist, with one entry specifying Vicente Lopez. The list names Goya's grandson and gives the Marques de Alcañices alongside that entry.
