His Heart's Queen

His Heart's Queen is by Mrs. Georgie Sheldon, author of Dorothy's Jewels, Earl Wayne's Nobility and The False and the True. Doctor Morton reads an advertisement wanting information regarding Miss Violet Draper Huntington, and his mind instantly reverts to the initials engraved upon the unknown girl's music-roll. The girl is burning with fever and unconscious of her surroundings, constantly calling upon Belle and Wilhelm to help her.

A man takes both her hands in his, pressing his lips first to one and then the other, in a chivalrous, reverent way that touches Violet deeply and brings a sense of guilt and shame. Lord Cameron sees that she is deeply agitated and sits beside her; the text says he possessed great tact and a wonderful fund of anecdote and incident. A young teacher who took up her abode in an elegant home is gentle, tender in reproof and sympathetic whenever Bertha shows sorrow, and the child gradually grows to love her almost to idolatry.
