About this book
History of Electric Light explains Ohm’s law as the relationship between the current flowing in a circuit, its voltage, and its resistance. An example gives an incandescent lamp on a 120-volt circuit a current of 0.4 ampere and a resistance of 300 ohms under those conditions.
The transformer described in the account has its primary coil connected in multiple on a constant potential, high-voltage alternating-current system, with a lower constant voltage obtained from its secondary coil. The survey puts the annual demand for incandescent lamps for renewals and new installations at over 200 millions, excluding miniature lamps. The account reports that average candlepower in standard lighting lamps rose from 16 before 1905 to over 60.
