About this book
Iamblichus on the Mysteries of the Egyptians, Chaldeans, and Assyrians is a translation from the Greek by Thomas Taylor. This is the second edition, dated London, 1895, and it opens with an advertisement saying Taylor's translations and original works have become scarce and expensive.
In one passage under the chapter numbers XIII and XIV, the text takes up sacrifices and says that of the Gods some are material and others immaterial. Another passage speaks of infinite powers in the celestial Gods, the last kind of which is physical. The volume also carries pages of notices for other books, among them a life of the poet James Thomson.
