About this book
Eberhard Nestle of Maulbronn wrote this introduction to the textual criticism of the Greek New Testament. The English version is dated 1901, is translated from the second edition with corrections and additions by the author, and names William Edie as translator, with Allan Menzies of St Andrews also on the title page.
The pages sampled contain notes on passages in Matthew and Mark. One discusses Barabbas and the name Jesus given to him in very ancient manuscripts, with references to Tatian, Jerome and Bar-Bahlul. Another reports remarks by Blass on the text of Mark. A word list of Greek terms for books, writing and scribes points to the Septuagint concordance, and a further passage asks what Eusebius meant about Tatian's treatment of the Pauline Epistles.
