About the author

Ned Vizzini

Vizzini was writing for the New York Press as a teenager and published a first book at nineteen. In 2004 he spent five days in a psychiatric hospital in Brooklyn, and It's Kind of a Funny Story, written in three weeks afterwards, comes straight out of it: a sixteen-year-old admits himself and finds the ward less frightening than the school he came from.
