About this book
The chapter on the laws of Iyeyas describes rules intended for the military chiefs and their followers who formed his own court. The account describes the issuing of one hundred rules or directions as a testament, to be bequeathed to descendants. The rules require the high ranks of the Mikado’s court to preserve the old laws of the empire and pay the highest respect to the Mikado.
The account calls the seventh great period in Japan during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries the period of Cosmopolitanism. The discussion of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance presents the agreement as presumably proving that both signatories regarded Russian troops in Manchuria and Russian aggression in the East as a genuine, threatening and immediate danger to British and Japanese trade.
